We license content the way a broadcaster would want to be licensed.
Content Kiwanda acquires distribution rights from broadcasters, distributors and producers, and sub-licenses them to the SOA streaming service. You set the territories and the term. Nothing of yours reaches an audience until both parties have signed.
Where a programme goes, and what has to be true first
Four links. The one in the middle is the only one that matters.
- 01
Rights holder
A broadcaster, distributor or producer who owns content and controls where it may be shown.
Agreement
A Publisher Distribution Agreement naming the territories, the term and the revenue share. Both parties sign.
- 03
Content Kiwanda
We hold the sub-licensable rights and the obligations that come with them.
- 04
SOA
The streaming service carries the channel, inside the territories the agreement grants and nowhere else.
What we commit to
Rights are easy to promise and hard to keep. These are the ones we built the system around.
- Nothing runs unsigned
- A publisher cannot be made active in our systems without an executed, in-term agreement. That is enforced by the database, not by a policy document — the rule holds even against our own staff.
- Territories are countries
- Rights are recorded as individual countries, never as regions. “East Africa” is not something a distribution gate can check, so we do not store it as though it were.
- The term is the term
- When an agreement expires or is terminated, the revocation is pushed downstream ahead of anything else in the queue. Coming online can wait; coming offline cannot.
- You keep what you did not grant
- We acquire distribution rights for named territories. Everything outside them stays yours to license to whomever you like, including our competitors.
Who we work with
If you hold rights and they are free to grant, we would like to hear from you.
We are a British Columbia company and started here. Most of the channels we carry come from Sub-Saharan Africa, where our network and our experience run deepest. That is not a restriction: we acquire from rights holders anywhere, and the same agreement and the same process apply.
The first conversation is about territories, term and revenue share. Nothing is committed until you have read an agreement with your own schedules in it.
Tell us what you holdWhat we acquire
- Linear television — free-to-air and pay channels, carried as a live feed.
- Radio — stations carried as a continuous stream.
- Programme libraries — series, films and formats licensed as catalogue.
What we need from you
- Proof you hold the rights you are offering, and that they are free of a conflicting exclusive.
- The territories you are able to grant, country by country.
- A signatory authorised to bind your organisation.
